Thin thin thin
I don't understand why I don't just eat really healthy all the time and work out. The biggest thing I hate about myself is my body... so why am I doing nothing to change it? I'm such a fool. Tomorrow! And I intend on keeping record of my approximate calorie intake for a week. I will also go to the gym as much as possible. That way, I will be looking amazing before I know it. Just because I'm going to win over the love of my life. I'm gonna! I know I will. Kidding, I have only doubts. But shopping for bathing suits on VictoriasSecret.com makes me really hate my body... so get ready to see me so skinny! Encourage me. Say WHAT!?

Obsession
Yeah, you could say I'm obsessed with dance. It really changed my life. I've been dancing since I was 2, so it's had time to make an impact. It didn't just improve my dancing abilities or technique, but it changed me in other ways as well. One way it definitely changed me was through music. I, unlike many people I know, get so excited over music. There are certain accents in songs that I draw attention to that none of my friends/family notice. I love instrumental progression and instrumental or vocal crescendos. Sometimes I assume it's because I enjoy singing and playing guitar. I can't take credit though, I'm not very good at guitar-- thanks tiny hands. My music collection is outrageous; I listen to LITERALLY everything, besides all foreign languages because that would get tough. I do have some French and Spanish though. I was re-doing my facebook interests section today since many things have changed, and it was very hard choosing just a few musicians. I think it's so interesting what kind of impact songs have on people, too. My dance studio is participating in a Down's Syndrome Awareness program, because a young girl at the studio has Down's Syndrome. Our newest routine is to "Man in the Mirror" by Michael Jackson. Anyone who listens to that knows the meaning behing the words. As I was dancing, I looked at the young girl, sitting next to the sound system. She was staring straight ahead and tapping her finger. At that moment, I wished so badly I knew what she was thinking. Could she understand what the words' real meaning was? Does music affect children with disablities like it affects other children? Does music affect children in general like it affects me? Does music affect me like it affects everyone else? Which puts this Blog into a complete cycle. I hope this all made sense. It did to me, anyway. Sorry it's been so long since my last post. Since you care and stuff. Mmmksaywhat?

"Been up all night
Staring at you
Wondering what's on your mind
I've been this way
With so many before
But this feels like the first time
You are the sunrise,
Go back to bed
I want to make you laugh
Mess up my bed with me
Kick off the covers,
I'm waiting
Every word you say
I think I should write down
Don't want to forget come daylight.
Happy to lay here,
Just happy to be here,
I'm happy to know you."
All the songs from Dear John are lovely. I can't wait to sing at MJs. I think I'm singing the song above. "Paperweight" by Joshua Radin and Schuyler Fisk.
How about an update-- I know you missed me. (Whoever "you" isn't.) Today I have IMTA practice which I'm leaving early for work. Oh yeah, about that... I got a job. It's glamorous, so if you get jealous easily, X out of your browser. Kidding, it's being a countergirl at Little Caesars. HAHA but yeah, work then I'm going to the dance partyyy holla at that. I bought some cute cute clothes so let's get it. Bye now, sw?

Ouch, mang.
My body aches all over. I went to the gym yesterday for the first time in a while. I only lift 8 lb dumbells, so I'm not sure why my arms are killing me. I can't tighten any of my arm muscles without being in pain. Oh well... hopefully they'll look nice and toned at the rate I'm going. Comical story about the gym: I used to go daily over the summer and, then, I lifted 5 lb dumbells. Many older men come into that gym as well. I was in the "free-weights" room, in the back, doing Bicep curls with my light dumbells. (Well, not-so-light to me.) While I was "lifting", I saw this incredibly burly man, probably in his 40s, searching for dumbells of his own. From the look on his face, I assumed someone took the ones he was looking for. My funny-bone kicked in. (Note: I'd never spoken to him before.) I said "Oh, I'm sorry... did I take your weights?" and gestured toward my measly dumbells. At first he was baffled. He thought I was serious. Then he understood and laughed with me. I guess what they say is true; it's rare that you find brawns AND brains. Anyyyway, back to the present, I'm sore and I just got back from a long night's worth of dance-- didn't help my poor body at all. I dance tomorrow at half-time for the basketball game but it's also my first night of working at Little Ceaser's. I have to rush out of work and go straight to the game and dance without practice OR stretching. I'm nervous! But until then... yeah yeah saywhat.

"I'm miles from where you are..."
I absolutely LOVE the song Set the Fire to the Third Bar by Snow Patrol (feat. Martha Wainwright), featured in "Dear John". I'm also very excited to see that movie. The lyrics are so perfectly fitting. :
"I find a map and draw a straight line
Over rivers, farms, and state lines
The distance from "A" to where you'd be
It's only finger lengths that I see
I touch the place
Where I'd find your face
My fingers in creases
Of distant dark places
I hang my coat up in the first bar
There is no peace that I've found so far
The laughter penetrates my silence
As drunken men find flaws in science
There words mostly noises
Ghosts with just voices
Your words in my memory
Are like music to me
I'm miles from where you are
I, lay down on the, cold ground, I
I pray that something picks me up
And, sets me down in your, warm arms
After I have travelled so far
We'd set the fire to the third bar
We'd share each other like an island
Until, exhausted, close our eyelids
And dreaming pick up from
The last place we left off
Your soft skin is weeping
A joy you can't keep in
I'm miles from where you are
I, lay down on the, cold ground and I
I pray that something picks me up
And, sets me down in your, warm arms
I'm miles from where you are
I, lay down on the, cold ground and I
I pray that something picks me up
And, sets me down in your, warm arms"
Honestly... so pretty. I could listen to it on repeat for a very, very long time. So I definitely recommend you listen to it, sw?

Gaga Ooh La La
Successful weekend. Niggy's house was so much fun! "Look at Kyle...!" Goodness gracious, I don't know why everyone was so hilarious. But shout out to my girls, SNOOKS and Niggy! Hahaha ;) oh! And I'm not really a fan of Jersey Shore, but everyone else is and I had a great idea... JERSEY SHORE PARTY! Everyone must dress up like a specific person from the show, or just straight up guido. It would be ultimately great. Mmm The Beatles just came on. I'm sleeping on a small bed tonight with a dog that doesn't belong to me. And I smell like summer; I went tanning tonight for 45 minutes (its a slow tanning bed) and I put on the Moraccan Oil I'd used over the summer to enhance my suntan. Which I'm trying to replenish. My midterm exam tomorrow is for la clase de Espanol. Aka, yo estoy screwed. Sra. P is a doll, but I totally tune her cute little voice out. I know nothing and am struggling with studying. I cannot wait for school to be over. Summer cannot come soon enough. But leave me alone Bloggy, I need to teach myself the entire Spanish language quick. Say... what!

Art, Purposeless
The title explains all.
This just in... while the Droid is the epitame of awesome phones, it is still not a computer and disables uploads. So, I must wait to use a computer to add my art work to this post. I know, try to contain yourselves and lull your anticipation. Til then... say what?

How Smells Trigger Memories
I know this seems random, but I've recently been very interested in figuring out how smells trigger memories. Over the summer, I went to the beach with E Scream. I had to buy face wash because I'd forgotten mine at home. I stopped at the Rite Aid just before the bridge into Ocean City and bought a Neutrogena Transparent Facial Bar. If you'd asked me, then, to describe the smell, I wouldn't have been able to. I used it the entire week we were there and came home. It's been at least six months since then. I just bought myself another bar yesterday. If you were to ask to me to describe the smell now, I would immediately say "it smells like the beach". Which is not true at all. To you, it might remind you of something totally different-- in-fact, I highly doubt it would remind you of the beach at all. This is a prime example of how smells trigger memories. I got really interested in why that happened, so I decided to do a little bit of research on it.
"A smell can bring on a flood of memories, influence people's moods and even affect their work performance. Because the olfactory bulb is part of the brain's limbic system, an area so closely associated with memory and feeling it's sometimes called the "emotional brain," smell can call up memories and powerful responses almost instantaneously.
The olfactory bulb has intimate access to the amygdala, which processes emotion, and the hippocampus, which is responsible for associative learning. Despite the tight wiring, however, smells would not trigger memories if it weren't for conditioned responses. When you first smell a new scent, you link it to an event, a person, a thing or even a moment. Your brain forges a link between the smell and a memory -- associating the smell of chlorine with summers at the pool or lilies with a funeral. When you encounter the smell again, the link is already there, ready to elicit a memory or a mood. Chlorine might call up a specific pool-related memory or simply make you feel content. Lilies might agitate you without your knowing why. This is part of the reason why not everyone likes the same smells.
Because we encounter most new odors in our youth, smells often call up childhood memories. But we actually begin making associations between smell and emotion before we're even born. Infants who were exposed to alcohol, cigarette smoke or garlic in the womb show a preference for the smells. To them, the smells that might upset other babies seem normal or even comforting."

I hope you found that as interesting as I. I'm adding artwork to my next post, so be sure to check it out! Say what?

The beginning.
So I'm starting a blog. I don't know why. I don't know how. I don't know if anyone will even read this. But welcome to 2010, I might as well, right? This post is going to mainly focus on my new key necklace. Snooks, The Good Time, and I all put money together to buy it. It's adorable, and perfect... I even said on my twitter (savannahwatkins) that "I've recently acquired an interest in birds, telescopes, and old keys." Odd, I'm aware. But it truly is a great necklace. I can't wait to pass it around among the three of us. And tonight will be fun... we're all sleeping at The Good Time's house. Hopefully Mama Lo is going to bake for us. Until next time... say what?
